The 4th Iranian Alopecia Society Conference was held on Friday 19th July, 2019 at Payam conference hall at the Ministry of Communications
Doctors and dermatologists as : Dr. Parvin Mansouri, Nader Zarinpour, Zohreh Tehranchi, Kamran Balighi, Rana Omidbakhsh joined the scientific panels of the Iranian Alopecia Society Conference to answer the questions and share updated information with the rare patient audiences. Mr. Mostafa Mohaghegh, the managing director of Alopecia Society of Iran presented a report of their activities at the society and added, “ The most important problem with the Alopecia disease is the lack of public awareness and we aim to assist our member patients and other people with updated information through holding events, accordingly.” He also emphasized,” The lack of insurance, orphan drugs and high cost of pharmaceuticals have raised serious problems for the Alopecia patients.”
Dr. Nader Zarinpour continued,” About 2% of Iran’s population are afflicted with Alopecia and of course it is not contagious. People should be well aware about the rare diseases. He also recommended alerts for arbitrary use of medical for the audiences.
Dr. Hamid Reza Edraki, RADOIR managing director had an oral presentation about the achievements in the recent years and the mutual collaborations between the Ministry of Health, Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) and Rare Diseases Foundation of Iran on the developing the national strategic plan for rare diseases and orphan drugs to serve the rare patients with their needs.
