It was raised at the specialized meeting between Director General for NGOs and EURODIS delegation: Iran shall lead rare diseases societies in the Middle-East
In the specialized meeting held between representatives of the Rare Diseases Foundation of Iran and the EURODIS Delegation, Mustafa Jamali, Director General for NGOs and Representative of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education said: “We wish Iran to take a leading role concerning activities of rare diseases societies in the Middle-East because of its immense capacities as compared with other countries in the region”.
Emphasizing support of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education for NGOs and its drive for facilitating activities thereto Mr. Jamali added: “We have always intended to support NGOs. But in the recent years we have faced harsh pressures directed against us in the field of medicine by the West for political reasons endangering lives of our patients”.
Mr. Jamali proposed to the representatives of EURODIS to help to the establishment of cooperation between Iranian NGOs and those of Europe. He stated: “Currently for a number of diseases we have prepared national document and if within the EU there exist similar documents or else we appreciate if the European side introduces them to us in order for us to implement their provisions in Iran as well”.
In return Patrick Renier, representative of EURODIS, stated: “In the past Iran had been far more advanced than the West in the field of medicine and this country is of a rich background in this area but the political developments have not come to its favour. Today we are humbly here to do everything in our hand for further interaction and cooperation with the Iranian side”. He added: “We will do our best for start of scientific cooperation between Iran and the Eurofant Organization that is in charge of classification of diseases and is in possession of all information on this area as immediate as possible”. He reminded that EURODIS enjoys very good relations with the said organization.
During the meeting Denis Castello, EURODIS Web Communications Senior Manager & Rare Connect Leader, asked members of the board of directors and prominent personalities of the Rare Diseases Foundation of Iran that in their future meetings to provide him with their technical recommendations and required information in favour of two sides’ further scientific cooperation.
During the meeting, Ali Davoudian, Managing Director of the Rare Diseases Foundation of Iran, stated that although that Iran is not in Europe but the Foundation is following a model designed based on all international standards.
The said specialized meeting between representatives of the Rare Diseases Foundation of Iran and the EURODIS delegation was held at the venue of Parsian Imaging Centre on July 27th2016. The two sides discussed and exchanged views on two track cooperation between Iranian and European NGOs.
