In November 2011 Dr. Ms. Moazenzadeh started a series of activities aiming to bring families of the EB affected patients together in order for them to exchange their experiences on the methods of their care for the EB patients and to become familiar with the relevant new ones. During the sessions for exchange of experiences Dr. Ms. Mahsooni, a prominent pharmacist, presented a cream made by her of coriander that was very good effect on the EB caused bruises. It is to be mentioned that in the course of her activities Dr. Ms. Mahsooni has made lots of efforts to produce the desired formula in order to relieve pains of the EB affected patients using the Iranian traditional medicine.
The first official meeting of the EB Society took place on January 28th, 2010 at the Rare Diseases Foundation of Iran’s main building that was attended by 28 EB affected patients and their families. The said meeting was also attended by a number of dermatologists as well as Dr. Ms. Moazenzadeh, Dr. Ms. Zand, Dr. Barzegar from Shohadaye Tajrish Hospital, Dr. Ebrahimi (genetics specialist), representative of the Daya Teb Company as well as Dr. Ali Davoudian, the Foundation’s Managing Director.
At this meeting, Dr. Ms. Moazenzadeh and Dr. Ebrahimi made speeches on the EB disease and provided information on the new methods of care for the EB patients and the latest researches done on this disease. Also during this event, Dr. Ebrahimi and members of his laboratory team took blood samples of the EB affected children for carrying out the relevant genetic tests.
Also during this meeting representatives of Daya Teb Company (representative of Molnlycke Company’s products in Iran) introduced new wound dressing bandages and they did the dressing on two of the EB patients who had attended the meeting showing the modern methods for this purpose. A the end of the meeting the EB patients’ families also received samples of the coriander cream formulated by Dr. Ms. Mahsooni as well as a 20-page pamphlet on the new methods of care for EB patients.
